This retreat is open to yoga students of all levels of yoga proficiency, assuming some yoga experience. The classes will be customized to challenge all students, and provide maximum benefit for everybody. We will have a large room (the ‘gym’) available for our use. . Additionally, we may elect to hold some sessions outside, under the palm trees, near the hot river or elsewhere since the whole Rio Caliente area is an energetically highly charged region which served the indigenous people as a sacred site for centuries prior to historic times. There are yoga mats and other yoga props available on site. However, I recommend bringing your own mat if possible
Participation in the programs is voluntary. If somebody needs to “sleep in” one morning, that’s fine!
I am also allowing “non participants”, spouses, friends and others to join the group. Please see below for costs.
During the course of the daily programs, we will explore many different aspects of yoga, physical postures, breathwork, the energetic benefits of the asanas, advanced postures for the adventurous and easier variations for others. We will touch upon meditation and chanting. We will also explore the incredible natural surroundings of Rio Caliente, the mountains and the hot rivers.
Yoga Retreat Program Costs and Options
The cost of the retreat including 7 nights private room with bath, all meals, all the yoga programs, hikes, spa programs, 2 massages or facials, a mudwrap and the trip to town will probably be $1,250 per person based on double occupancy. The cost may change slightly as the 2008 spa rates haven’t been established at this time. For single room occupancy, add $200, for triple (if available), subtract $100. For anyone wishing to join the group, but not partake in the yoga program, subtract $150 from the total. (These people will be welcome to join the evening bonfire and also the trip into town.)
Not included in the above prices are: the cab fare to/from the airport (about $50 per trip), a 15% tax on all spa services including room and board part ($1,035) of the retreat cost, gratuities for spa staff, and any cervezas and margaritas ordered at the “in town lunch” on Friday.
Private yoga instruction will be available at $40/hour.
Our group will be housed in the “patio” area of the spa since another group has already been confirmed in the “pool” area starting January 25 th.
A $400 deposit per person is required to hold your room. We need to confirm our group by the middle of September 2007, and a minimum of 12 is required to make this work.
Naturally if anyone wishes to stay longer, to participate in the Reiki Work Group Retreat from 1/26 – 1/31, or simply to enjoy the spa, different cost options are available.
Reiki Work Group Retreat General Information
This retreat is open to anybody wishing to deepen their Reiki practice. For those, who haven’t been attuned, Level One Reiki Training will be offered on the first day. Other Level One students, will have the opportunity to receive Level Two training. Anybody wishing to attain Reiki Master and Teacher status should discuss this option with me. The trainings are also open to students who might wish to be re-attuned.
Included in your program cost is one private Reiki session with Zintis. Additional private sessions will be available at $50 each.
The work sessions will take place in the “casita” that will be assigned for our use. The cost may change slightly as the 2008 spa rates haven’t been established at this time. For single room occupancy, add $150, for triple (if available), subtract $75. For anyone wishing to join the group, but not partake in the yoga program, subtract $120 from the total. (These people will be welcome to join the evening.)

Naturally if anyone wishes to stay longer, to participate in the Yoga Retreat from 1/19 - 1/26, or simply to enjoy the spa, different cost options are available.
Rio Caliente General Information
The spa is located about an hour from Guadalajara, Mexico. Plan to fly into the Guadalajara airport (GDL) and then take a taxi to the resort. Cost for the cab will be about $50. Airfare to GDL from the NY area is usually about $450. Cabs in Guadalajara are safe. If possible, please arrive by the afternoon, Since our first program will be on the arrival evening. If that’s not possible, you must get to the spa by 9:30 PM, since the office closes for the night at that time.
Rio Caliente is in central Mexico, about 2 hours from the Pacific Ocean. Located in a mountainous area, in the middle of a huge, 20,000 acre national forest. The location is completely secluded and quiet, truly in a world of its own.
The food at Rio Caliente is low fat vegetarian. They are happy to accommodate vegans. If you have other special diet requirements, please discuss these with me prior to the trip.
